PM Surya Ghar subsidy, explained
PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana gives homes in Assam a central subsidy of up to ₹85,800 on rooftop solar. Here is who qualifies, how much you get and how we handle it for you.
How much you get

- 1 kW
- ₹33,000
- 2 kW

- 2.5 kW
- ₹75,900
- 3 kW and above
- ₹85,800
Central financial assistance for residential rooftop systems in special-category states (including Assam), as per current scheme guidelines. A state top-up may also be available. Amounts can change — we confirm the latest figures with you before you sign.
Do you qualify?
Most homes do. If you can say yes to these, you are very likely eligible.
- You are an Indian citizen and own the house where the panels go.
- The house has a valid electricity connection in your name.
- There is enough shadow-free roof — about 100 sq ft for every kW.
- The household has not already taken a solar subsidy for this connection.
- The system is installed by a registered vendor using approved (DCR) panels.

Do I pay the full price first?
Yes. You pay for the system, and the central subsidy is credited to your bank account after installation and APDCL inspection. Solar loans can cover the upfront amount.
How long does the subsidy take?
It depends on APDCL inspection and portal processing. Once the net-meter is installed and the inspection report is uploaded, the payment is released to your account — we track it until it arrives.
Is there a subsidy for shops or factories?
PM Surya Ghar covers residential rooftops only. Shops, offices and factories still benefit from much lower bills and net-metering — ask us for a commercial assessment.
Can I add batteries for power cuts?
Yes — a hybrid system adds battery backup. Talk to us about which loads you want to keep running and we will size it for you.
